Not with the grid. Not with \u201clet\u2019s do something clean and modern and make it sell.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nope.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It starts with that <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">click<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in your brain when you stumble on a site that feels more like a story than a product. And you think, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">God, how did they do that? <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And then, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">how do I pull it off too\u2014maybe even cooler, cleaner, with a touch they didn\u2019t see coming?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That\u2019s what got me into design. Not \u201cdesign\u201d as a discipline, but design as <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a way of seeing. <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I didn\u2019t want to make things that looked nice. I wanted to make things that made people <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">feel.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Somewhere along the way, I stopped limiting my inspiration sources to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">just<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> screens and added nature to my toolbox as well. Blades of grass against a thunder-blue sky. Soft pinks melting into rust at sunset. The choreography of wind in trees. Those things don\u2019t ask to be beautiful, they just <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. How color speaks before words. How text can enter a screen like a character. How pacing isn\u2019t just for storytelling\u2014it\u2019s how you guide and control attention. Wes Anderson\u2019s <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grand Budapest Hotel<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a perfect example\u2014that film is a masterclass in composition and color. Sometimes, it\u2019s in old buildings with stories hidden behind every wall. Or a stranger\u2019s outfit\u2014how the textures sit against each other. Or even just a weirdly satisfying shade of brick in the right light.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You don\u2019t need Pinterest. You need <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">eyes<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And space. And time. And permission to be still enough to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">notice<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I believe websites should carry an emotion. Otherwise, what\u2019s the point? People don\u2019t remember the layout. They remember the feeling.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Turning Emotion Into Interface<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of my favorite projects\u2014Spylt, a brand of protein-rich caffeinated chocolate milk, was all about that. The goal was to capture something energetic, youthful, exciting. That meant bold animations, unexpected layouts, and tiny little micro-interactions that kept the whole thing breathing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To keep that feeling alive in the work, I go back to the things that ground me. A candle, a scent of incense, a waving maneki-neko cat sitting on my desk beside a bunch of dried flowers. Or my favorite book on the topic\u2014\u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Beauty\u201d by Sagmeister &amp; Walsh<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, pure visual satisfaction. I like having those little things around.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And when the inspiration\u2019s really gone, I usually just <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">keep going<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> anyway\u2014focus on the technical stuff first. The creative spark finds its way back when it\u2019s ready.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It reminds me that design isn\u2019t about trends. Or tools. Or showing off. It\u2019s about crafting emotion you can\u2019t put into words. The real work is filling your project with <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">feeling<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014the kind that stays with you, even when the screen goes dark.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Inspiration doesn\u2019t live in grids or trends.
